(586) 774-2020When shopping for new clothes, you usually try out different outfits to find one that works. You already have an idea of what works for you before trying out different outfits. You will have to consider your body type, your favorite colors, and the style you are going for. It is the same for eyeglasses.
When you go look for a new pair of eyeglasses, you should know a few things about yourself. One of the most critical things you should be aware of is your face shape. You should also know how certain shapes and colors of eyeglasses affect your facial aesthetics. Understanding these factors is critical to finding a pair of eyeglasses that complement your beauty and style.
You should first know the shape of your face. Not all faces have the same type of geometry or prominent features. The best pair of eyeglasses should work with your facial features to enhance them aesthetically. The jawline, the cheekbones, and the forehead form your shaped face. Here are the five main face shape types:
Of all the face shape types, this one is the most symmetrical, with the length and width being almost the same. The jawline and chin may also be rounded instead of sharp. You will not have prominent cheekbones taking center stage or any sharp angles.
These face shapes do not go well with round or small frames because they make your face seem rounder. You will do better with wider rectangular frames that make your face appear slimmer.
In the square face, the jawline will have sharper angles taking prominence over other facial features. The rest of the features, from the cheekbones to the forehead, will all have the same width. These will create a symmetrical look on your face. If you go for boxy frames, they will make your face appear much wider.
An oval face is much longer than wide, giving it a distinctive oval look. You will usually have a wider forehead, rounded jawline, and chin. It is generally longer than a round face but still has rounded features. You should avoid large eyeglasses covering more than half of your face. These will usually unsettle the balance and symmetry of your face.
A heart-shaped face has a broader forehead that is prominent, and as you proceed down the face, the cheekbones are plush. Your facial angles will become sharp, and you will also have a pointed chin. The plush cheekbones and the pointed chin are what seem heart-shaped.
For this face shape, eyeglasses that balance the chin's narrowness and the forehead's width work best. Also, square or round eyeglasses will draw attention from your forehead.
With a diamond face shape, your forehead and jawline will be much narrower than your cheekbones. These, the wider cheekbones, give that diamond shape. Wider frames will work better for your facial features than narrow ones.
